THANK YOU

A sincere thank you to all our friends who have made the time we spent fishing on Lake Champlain and Lake Ontario in 2003 both successful and fun. We look forward to fishing with you again this year.

LAKE ONTARIO SPRING

Bernie and his catch

The 2003 Season

The 2003 season on Lake Champlain was an another good one. While the Atlantic Salmon were harder than usual to find, the Lake Trout more than made up for it. Lake Ontario was good throughout the spring, and we had at least one huge Brown on the line on just about every outing. Again we saw the results of stocking browns offshore where the cormorants have a difficult time getting them. This spring should be another good one with 4 years of solid stocking behind us. The Browns should be even more numerous and bigger. The King Salmon season started out slower than usual and it wasn’t until Aug 23 that the first big school of fish arrived. This was the third year in a row that the run has started late. One explaination for this may be the weather or it could be that because the fish we are getting the eggs from (for stocking) are late run fish and we are producing fish that will naturally run

LAKE ONTARIO SPRING

We teamed up Big Bear Charters for this nice catch of Spring Browns

later. Great fishing continued up until the end of the third week in Sept. I have a lot of days open in this time period and I encourage anyone that can move their fishing dates to call or email me to see what we can set up.

A Mid September catch

We started out on Lake Champlain in mid May and the Atlantic Salmon were hard to find right from the start. The last two years had been outstanding and we are still not sure why they never showed up in their usual haunts but good catches were still reported on the New York side and with the new reciprocal license agreement, we will have another option for those fisherman that would rather catch Salmon than Lake Trout. With the slow Salmon fishing we found ourselves putting in more time fishing for lake trout, and the fishing was excellent for the whole season. Our largest Lake Trout for the year was also the largest we have ever caught on Lake Champlain. This was a fish that weighed in well over 14 lbs and was over 34 inches long, and it was weighed hours after we had finished fishing. Yasner Taxidermy is mounting it!

Again this year we have set a new record for number of charters. The only slow period we had was in the month of July. I don’t understand this because some of the best lake trout fishing we have is in July. Maybe it’s the bright sunshine and warm weather!

Lake Champlain

NEW EQUIPMENT

We have added a new under water camera, the Walker Strike Vision system, that will add a new dimension to our fishing and enjoyment. It will be capable of watching the lure on one downrigger and seeing any fish that approaches the lure. I have seen this camera in action on other boats and it is a thrill to see the fish hit the lure. The biggest advantage is being able to ensure that the lure action is correct.

LAKE CHAMPLAIN

2004 Bookings

All indications are that 2004 will be excellent on both Lake Ontario and Lake Champlain. If you are planning on taking part in this action please call and reserve your date(s) as soon as possible. I still have a

Few dates open for Lake Ontario Kings. I have plenty of open dates for the spring browns/lake trout also on Lake Ontario.
